Barcelona Zoo

In 2003, the last months of Snowflakes life, the Barcelona Zoo announced a big campaign/homage that was presented in all kinds of media in Spain. Children could get a free entrance ticket in exchange for a drawing dedicated to the albino gorilla.
The Barcelona Zoo made a dvd “els Nens dibuixen en Floquet” (Children drawings of Snowflake). The dvd is the only trace left of the 4358 children’s drawings dedicated to Snowflake. The original drawings are not archived and only exist in a digital format. Due to this radical decision - by an institute who promotes conservation and pedagogical efforts – a lot of valuable information disappeared. The 4358 drawings explained the imagination and perception towards gorillas, zoos, nature and conservation and Western Culture presented by a generation of children in Spain.
